Detectives investigating the murder of Michelle Sadio in Brent have made a significant arrest, taking an 18-year-old man into custody on suspicion of murder.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 8 January, and remains in police custody as inquiries continue.

Police Appeal for Information

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who is leading the investigation, urged anyone with information to come forward, stating:

“While this arrest marks a significant step forward in this investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information about Michelle’s murder to speak to us.

“This was a senseless act of violence that resulted in an innocent woman being killed. Michelle’s family continue to grieve, and we are determined to ensure those responsible face justice.

Background: Fatal Shooting in Gifford Road

The murder investigation was launched following a fatal shooting on Gifford Road, NW10, at approximately 9:15 PM on Saturday, 14 December.

Michelle, aged 44, was standing outside a church following a wake when gunfire erupted. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she tragically died at the scene.

Two men in their 30s also sustained injuries during the shooting:

  • One remains hospitalised in critical but stable condition.
  • The other has been discharged following treatment.

Vehicle Used in the Shooting

Detectives believe the shots were fired from a black Kia Niro, which has distinctive alloys and was using the number plate LA23 XRE.

  • After the shooting, the vehicle was driven to Barnhill Road, where it was abandoned and set on fire.
  • Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.
