Bishop Auckland UKRO Regional goes Down a Storm

Emergency and rescue services had a chance to showcase their skills at Bishop Auckland Community Fire Station’s open day yesterday (May 14th). Hundreds of people attended the event to get a closer look at the work carried out by the Regional UKRO and Country Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Centre. From quad bikes to horses, and even TV police inspectors, there was something for everyone but it was the Regional UKRO that drew the crowds. Hundreds of people attended the event which turned out to get a closer look at the emergency services in action yesterday (May 14), as part of Bishop Auckland Community Fire Station’s open day and the Regional UKRO (United Kingdom Rescue Operation) held at County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service. But it was Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service Extrication team who scooped the performance of the day. Second time consecutive winners Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service who scooped the weekend winners title. Crowds also saw other guests including stars and their cars from the county’s Police Interceptor’s team. A vintage fire engine also made an appearance while several charities were also on hand to give advice about different topics and raise money and awareness of their causes. The event was organised by County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service district manager, Adam Hall, and assistant district manager, Paul Cummings. https:///youtu.be/wL6gPC2GqEY Bishop Auckland Mayor, Lee Brownson, was also at the event and praised everyone involved. “It’s a fantastic turnout and there’s twice as many people as last year,” he said. “It’s great seeing all the kids and families coming to learn about the service – I think it helps break down barriers for the public to understand exactly what our emergency services so.” Fire Chief Stuart Errington, said: “It’s been an excellent event.
