Blackwall Tunnel Overnight Closure This Friday for Roadwork

The Blackwall Tunnel will be closed overnight this Friday to accommodate roadworks related to the ongoing Silvertown Tunnel Project.

The closure will affect southbound traffic only and will be in place from 11pm on Friday, October 18, until 8am on Saturday, October 19. The closure will allow for work on a new road layout on the A102.

Impact on Traffic

  • Northbound traffic will still be able to use the tunnel, but diversions may be in place on the approach. At times, northbound traffic may be diverted through the southbound tunnel.
  • HGVs and large vehicles are advised to avoid central London routes due to size and weight restrictions on some river crossings.

About the Silvertown Tunnel Project
