Brighton Mainline Shut after person hit by a train at Haywards Heath
Emergency Services have been mobilised to just south of Haywards Heath station this afternoon after a person was hit by a train The body of a person was found on rail tracks near Haywards Heath station after being hit by a train serving the London Victoria to Brighton at just before 3pm on Saturday A number of people remain on the train that has struck the person and a replacement bus has been arranged. Water has also been sent to the train.
Network Rail (NR) crews are working with the emergency services and closed the line the main Brighton to London line following the incident. “It is with regret we have to report that someone was hit by a train,” a NR statement says. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the person and all the staff who dealt with this incident. “Remember, Samaritans are always there to listen, their free helpline can be contacted on 116 123. A simple conversation is sometimes all it takes.”

Southern services in the Surrey and Sussex area into London have severely affected. Tickets were being accepted by a variety of transport operators in the area and a bus replacement service is being arranged.
UPDATE: West Sussex Fire Service has been contacted and asked if they’re able to assist with the cleaning of platform 2. They’ve agreed a to support with cleaning. More to follow
