A disturbing incident unfolded in the Australian beach resort of Noosa, as a 25-year-old British backpacker was reportedly stabbed in the back by a teenager. According to local media reports, police responded to the scene on Queensland’s coast in the early hours of Sunday.

The altercation is believed to have occurred around 04.00 on Hastings Street following an argument. Queensland Police stated that the 15-year-old attacker initially left the scene, but soon returned armed with a knife and a bottle. He then proceeded to stab the victim in the back and wrist.

While media outlets have identified the victim as British, authorities have yet to officially confirm his nationality. The suspect, apprehended by members of the public, was subsequently arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment, as reported by ABC News. However, he is expected to be discharged on Monday, according to 7 News.

Queensland Police released a statement explaining that the altercation escalated from a verbal argument between the 15-year-old male and the 25-year-old man. The youth allegedly left the scene only to return with a bottle and a knife, leading to a physical altercation that resulted in the stabbing.

Bystanders swiftly intervened, restraining the teenage assailant until the police arrived and took him into custody. The 15-year-old has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information or relevant evidence to come forward.
