Celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday with a street party on Portsmouth

Portsmouth residents are being invited to hold street parties on Sunday, 12 June, to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday. It is hoped groups of neighbours will work together to hold events across the city to coincide with the Queen hosting the largest street party The Mall in St James’ Park, London, has ever seen. Street party organisers will not need to worry about costs for road closures or temporary road signs, however they do need to complete an application form and return it to the council’s events team by midday on Friday, 15 April. Cllr Donna Jones, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, said: “Portsmouth has a strong history of bringing the community together and this is the perfect opportunity for neighbours, friends and family to get the bunting out and do just that. I hope as many people as possible host street parties and the city celebrates her Majesty’s birthday in style.” More information on hosting a street party and application forms are available on the council’s planning an event webpage, search ‘street party’ at Portsmouth.gov.uk or email [email protected]
