A significant victory for justice and a young victim occurred as a 38-year-old man, David Kidd of Appleford Court, Basildon, was convicted of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 10. Specialist officers swiftly acted upon the victim’s report in November 2020, leading to Kidd’s arrest and subsequent conviction.

The victim, whose identity remains protected due to her young age, bravely came forward to report the sexual assault she endured at the hands of the accused. Following her courageous act, dedicated specialist officers from the Child Abuse Investigation Team supported her throughout the harrowing legal process, designed specifically to address child sexual offences and support victims.
