A series of cases were heard at Barking and Romford magistrates’ courts on June 20 and 25, including offences relating to drug possession, common assault, drink-driving, and criminal damage.

Drug Offences

  • Herry Fred Barros Cabral, 24, of Walthamstow, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on May 12, 2025.
    He was ordered to pay £151 in fines, costs and a surcharge.
  • Taylor Maffia, 24, of Romford, admitted to possessing cannabis and drink-driving on May 12.
    He received a driving disqualification, forfeiture of the drugs, and was ordered to pay £165.
  • Joshua Smith, 32, of Curtis Road, Hornchurch, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine on June 3 in Hornchurch.
    He received a six-month conditional discharge, forfeiture of the drugs, and must pay £111 by July 18.

Assault and Public Order

  • Elliot Gibbon, 25, of Mawneys, Romford, pleaded guilty to common assault on May 30.
    He was fined £133, and compensation was ordered.
  • Thomas Haden, 38, of Flemming Avenue, Leigh-on-Sea, admitted to two counts of assault by beating and criminal damage for destroying a laptop on November 30, 2024, in Barking and Dagenham.
    He was sentenced to a community order lasting until December 2026, with:


Criminal Damage & Community Protection

  • Anthony Fitton, 45, of London Road, Barking, pleaded guilty to breaching a community protection notice by entering Station Parade on June 19.
    He was fined £50.
  • Adeniyi Odubawo, 38, of St Marys Road, Ilford, admitted to criminal damage after smashing two care home windows on November 16 and 17, 2024.
    He was fined £50; no separate penalty was imposed for the second offence.
