In a swift act of justice, 18-year-old Rackeem Thomas was sentenced to six months in prison for carrying a large Rambo knife at Dartford station. The sentencing occurred on Tuesday, December 19, a mere 24 hours after he was apprehended with the weapon.
The incident unfolded on Monday, December 18, when Thomas was stopped for a ticket check at Dartford station. Upon failing to produce a ticket, his nervous behaviour aroused the suspicion of the revenue inspector. Further raising concerns, Thomas provided a false name to the officers.
As officers prepared to search, Thomas attempted to flee the scene. Thanks to the quick intervention of rail staff, he was tackled to the ground. It was during this altercation that Thomas attempted to draw a concealed Rambo knife from his waistband.
Thomas was subsequently brought before Medway Magistrates’ Court, where he received a six-month jail sentence. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a £54 victim surcharge and £85 for the forfeiture and destruction of the weapon.
Investigating Officer Alex Morgan commented on the case, saying, “Thomas is a dangerous individual, and I am extremely pleased to see him sentenced to 6 months imprisonment less than 24 hours after officers found him committing the offence.” Officer Morgan emphasized the importance of removing such violent individuals and dangerous weapons from the rail network, hoping this case would serve as a deterrent to others.
