Detectives investigating the death of man in South Hampstead are appealing for witnesses to an earlier altercation

Detectives investigating the death of man in South Hampstead are appealing for witnesses to an earlier altercation. Police were called at around11.45pm on Thursday, 25 July, to Ainsworth House, Boundary Road, NW8, where a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were found with stab injuries. Both men were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service [LAS] where the 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at 12.37am Officers have informed his next of kin, who are being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination took place on Saturday, 27 July and gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest. The 22-year-old man was not critically injured. He remains in hospital in a serious, but stable condition. Detectives are linking another incident that took place five hours before in the NW8 area. At about 5pm on Thursday 25th July a fight broke out in the entrance to South Hampstead Rail Station on Loudon Road. Several men were involved. No one is reported to have been seriously injured.
