Devastated Mother Pays Tribute to Slain Birmingham Teenager as Four Charged with Murder – UKNIP

Joseph Riches, a 16-year-old from Birmingham, tragically lost his life over the weekend after being stabbed in Coventry Street, Stourbridge. He was rushed to Rowley Regis but succumbed to his injuries.

In the wake of her son’s untimely death, Joseph’s grieving mother has paid tribute to her beloved child. She expressed her devastation, stating, “Joe wanted nothing more than to grow up and be a dad. He will never get the chance to do that now, and for a mom, that is truly devastating. Joe loved going to the gym and was just a happy and loving son.” She urged the public to assist the police in uncovering the truth about her son’s tragic demise and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Following the investigation, four individuals have been charged with Joseph’s murder and have appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today. The charged individuals include 19-year-old Dray Simmonds, 19-year-old Joshua Edgington, and two 16-year-old males whose identities cannot be disclosed due to legal restrictions. Additionally, Dray Simmonds and one of the 16-year-old males face charges of possessing an offensive weapon.

Detective Inspector Laura Harrison of the West Midlands Police homicide department extended her condolences to Joseph’s family, stating, “Our thoughts remain with the family of Joe, who are devastated by the loss of their child. Our investigation is still ongoing, and we are appealing to anyone who can help us piece together what happened to get in touch with us.”
