In the wake of catastrophic floods that submerged Dubai, travel authorities are pleading with travellers to avoid the airport as the United Arab Emirates reels from over a year and a half’s worth of rain deluging the desert city-state in just a few hours.

Yesterday’s torrential downpour wreaked havoc across Dubai, inundating the airport and surrounding roads, resulting in the cancellation of numerous flights as stranded travellers sought refuge within the terminal’s confines.
