Emergency services were called to Vauxhall Bridge Road, London this afternoon following reports of a rescue from height involving an individual on the seventh floor of a building.

The incident was first reported  around 12pm prompting a swift response from the London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, and London Ambulance Service. Buses services the area have been put on a diversion whilst specialist deal  with the distressed person

Police Lead Rescue Operation

The Metropolitan Police took the lead in the operation, with officers already on the scene when specialized rescue teams arrived. Emergency crews worked carefully to manage the situation, focusing on safely bringing the individual to the ground.

A Police source at  scene confirmed: “Our officers responded to reports of an individual requiring rescue from the seventh floor of a building on Vauxhall Bridge Road. Working alongside fire and ambulance teams, we managed the scene and provided assistance as needed.”

Road Closures and Traffic Disruption

As part of the emergency response, Vauxhall Bridge Road was closed to traffic in both directions to allow rescue teams to operate safely. This caused significant traffic delays in the area, with commuters advised to seek alternative routes.

Transport for London (TfL) issued a statement: “Due to an ongoing emergency services incident on Vauxhall Bridge Road, road closures are in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Bus routes have also been diverted.”

Witnesses Describe Dramatic Scenes

Local residents and bystanders witnessed the unfolding operation, many expressing concern for the individual involved.

“I saw fire trucks and police cars racing to the scene,” said John Matthews, who works nearby. “The whole area was cordoned off, and it was clear something serious was happening. I just hope the person is okay.”

Ongoing Investigation

The Metropolitan Police have not yet confirmed the circumstances leading to the incident but stated that officers are conducting inquiries.

“Our priority was ensuring the safety of the individual and the public. The situation has now been resolved, and we are investigating the events leading up to the rescue,” said a police spokesperson.

There is currently no information regarding injuries or the individual’s condition following the rescue.
