Emergency services responded swiftly on the morning of Thursday, 10 April 2025, after receiving reports of a woman in distress on Lambeth Bridge, central London.
At approximately 6:45am, Marine 2 — the Met Police’s specialist river patrol unit — was deployed to its first call of the day following reports that a female was threatening to jump into the River Thames.

According to sources, the woman was seen wedged between safety barriers on the north side of the bridge, prompting immediate concern from members of the public and nearby officers. Police units arrived on the scene rapidly and began engaging with the individual.
The Met confirmed that the situation was resolved safely, with the woman now described as “safe and well” following the incident.
The official river unit account posted on social media:

A Delicate Rescue Effort
Officers worked calmly to de-escalate the situation, ensuring the woman’s safety while preventing any risk to the public or river traffic. No injuries were reported.

The area surrounding the bridge remained open, although some brief delays to traffic were reported during the emergency response.
