The family of a teenage girl tragically killed in Croydon has paid heartfelt tribute to their beloved daughter as investigators work diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.
Elianne Andam, a 15-year-old on her way to school, was attacked on Wellesley Road at approximately 08:30 on Wednesday, September 27. Swift action by law enforcement saw officers arriving at the scene within just two minutes of receiving the distressing call. Collaborating with emergency service colleagues, they provided immediate first aid to the young girl. However, despite their dedicated efforts, Elianne sadly passed away at the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford, leading the investigation, extended her sympathies to Elianne’s family and emphasised the dedication of her team in supporting them during this deeply distressing time. She stated, “Our investigation continues, and we are making good progress. We have recovered CCTV from the area and have spoken to a number of witnesses. Forensic scientists have also examined the scene.”
From their inquiries, investigators have concluded that the attack on Elianne occurred outside on Wellesley Road, near a bus stop, rather than on board the bus. Detective Chief Inspector Woodsford urged witnesses who may have seen the attack to come forward, acknowledging the distressing and traumatic nature of the incident.
