Fire at Dagenham Opticians with Flats Above Leaves One Hospitalised

Four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters responded to a fire at an opticians with residential flats above on Becontree Avenue earlier today.

The blaze, which broke out at 10:51 AM, caused damage to a small part of the ground floor. Fire crews from Dagenham, Hornchurch, Ilford, and Tottenham fire stations quickly arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control by 11:36 AM.

A woman was treated for smoke inhalation and subsequently taken to hospital. No further injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Residents and local businesses have been urged to contact the London Fire Brigade if they have any relevant information that could assist in the investigation.
