Surrey Police have initiated a double murder investigation following a deadly incident involving an e-bike on the A316 southbound slip road onto the M3. The crash, which occurred shortly before 1:00 AM on Monday, July 22, resulted in the deaths of two men in their twenties.
In a swift response to the tragedy, police arrested four individuals. A 29-year-old man from Sunbury is being held on suspicion of murder, while two other men, both aged 24 from Walton-on-Thames and Feltham respectively, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Additionally, a 24-year-old woman from North Yorkshire has been taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detective Inspector Debbie Birch, the Senior Investigating Officer, expressed her condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the families of the two victims at this incredibly difficult time. Our investigation is still in the early stages, and our officers are working around the clock to establish the circumstances of this incident and gather evidence.”
The initial reports indicate that the incident involved a collision with a black e-bike, which led to immediate fatalities and severe disruption in the area. The South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene, where one man was pronounced dead. The second victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
