A devastating fire in Tillett Close, Stonebridge, has claimed the lives of four people—a woman and three children—prompting a joint investigation by the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
Firefighters were called to the scene just after 1:13 AM on Saturday, May 24, after receiving over 20 emergency calls reporting a blaze involving two adjoining terraced houses.
Rescue and Response
A total of eight fire engines and around 70 firefighters from Wembley, Park Royal, Willesden, and surrounding stations responded to the incident. The fire, which severely damaged both three-storey properties, was brought under control by 3:24 AM.
- Four people evacuated the buildings before the brigade arrived.
- Two were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
- A woman and one child were rescued from a second-floor window, but were declared dead at the scene by a Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) team.
- Two additional children were later found deceased inside the building during search and rescue operations.
Assistant Commissioner Keeley Foster said:
“This is an extremely tragic incident. Sadly, despite the best efforts of our firefighters, a woman and three children lost their lives. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this terrible fire.”
Cause Under Investigation
The London Fire Brigade’s Fire Investigation Unit is working closely with Metropolitan Police officers to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
