Residents of Jersey are grappling with a significant gas supply disruption for a second day as Island Energy, the island’s gas company, continues to issue urgent advice to households and businesses. An island-wide outage resulted from a system fault, leaving homes and enterprises without gas access since the early hours of Saturday morning, October 7.

Despite residents being informed that the supply might be off until at least Monday, complaints highlight the impact on essential services like hot water, heating, and cooking facilities. Island Energy is actively managing the situation and urges customers to take immediate action:
- Turn off any gas appliances in use.
- Shut off the gas supply at the meter (emergency control valve).
- Avoid attempting to use gas appliances or turning on the supply until approved Island Energy engineers conduct checks.
Acknowledging the complexity of restoring gas to affected areas, Island Energy emphasises that the process will take “some time.”
