Lorry driver Robert Harrison has been sentenced to seven years in prison for causing the death of off-duty police officer PC Tristan Baker – UKNIP

In a tragic crash that occurred on the A1060 in Roxwell, Essex on September 23, 2021. The 38-year-old driver was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving at an earlier trial and was also banned from driving for five years

During the trial, it was revealed that Harrison was “vulnerable to falling asleep” on familiar roads and slept only five to six hours a night, relying on “strong doses of caffeine” to carry out his job as a lorry driver. The investigation into his sleep history indicated that he was prone to dozing off in monotonous situations, such as driving on a familiar road.
