A family in Wokingham had a lucky escape after a fire involving an e-scooter broke out inside a residential property late on Wednesday night.

Emergency services were called to Bedfordshire Way, Wokingham, at 10:20pm on 23 July following reports of a fire on the first floor of a home.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a blaze involving an electric scooter, which had ignited within the property. Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames using two hose reel jets.

 

The fire was brought under control within hours, with teams remaining on site for approximately three hours and 37 minutes.


Property Reinspection

A crew from Wokingham Fire Station returned to the address later for a routine reinspection, ensuring the property was safe and that there was no risk of reignition.

There were no reported injuries, and all occupants are understood to have evacuated safely.
