Drivers on the M25 are facing severe delays today after a crash caused over 10 miles of congestion on the Surrey stretch of the motorway.
The incident, first reported at 11:12am and occurred on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 10 for the A3 Wisley Interchange and Junction 11 for the A320 St Peters Way towards Chertsey. The crash took place in lane one of four and immediately sparked long tailbacks.
Queues Stretching Over 11 Miles
Traffic has built up heavily in the area, with queues stretching back to Junction 9 for Leatherhead—more than 11 miles from the site of the crash. With Easter bank holiday traffic already increasing pressure on the roads, delays have been compounded as thousands head out for weekend getaways.
Though the accident has now been cleared, congestion remains heavy between Junctions 10 and 11, with slow-moving traffic still being reported in the area. Google Maps live traffic data shows a gradual easing, but delays are expected to persist for some time.
Dartford Crossing Also Hit by Long Delays
In a separate incident, the Dartford Crossing is also experiencing major congestion. Traffic is backed up for over 11 miles, though the cause has yet to be confirmed. Bank holiday volumes are likely to be contributing to the delays there as well.
