Maidstone Fire Station had a delightful and rather unique set of visitors – eight guide dogs in training, accompanied by their trainers. This special visit was part of a training program designed to acclimate the guide dogs to various environments, noises, and smells they might encounter in their important roles.

The station turned into an exploratory playground for these intelligent canines. The puppies had a ‘positive’ experience as they navigated through the fire station, mingling with firefighters and familiarizing themselves with the surroundings. The exercise was particularly beneficial in getting them accustomed to being around large vehicles and adapting to the sound of loud sirens – a common occurrence in the life of a service dog.
