A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill following a tense standoff in Rubery, Birmingham.

West Midlands Police were called to a property on Pearman Road after receiving reports that a man had barricaded himself inside on Sunday, April 20. The area was cordoned off as specialist officers and trained negotiators were deployed to bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion.

After several hours, the man voluntarily exited the property, and was promptly arrested by officers on suspicion of making threats to kill. No injuries were reported during the incident, and police have since confirmed that there was no wider risk to the public.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said:

“We have arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of making threats to kill after he voluntarily left a property on Pearman Road, Rubery, where he had earlier barricaded himself inside. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.”

Residents in the area reported a significant police presence during the incident, with armed officers seen outside the property and emergency services vehicles parked nearby. The police cordon has now been lifted.
