A 22-year-old man has been arrested following a “frightening” altercation at the George Public House in Gravesend, which allegedly involved a knife. The incident took place on the evening of the Euros final, Sunday, July 14.
According to police, the suspect entered the George Public House on Hever Court Road at approximately 7:18 PM. It is reported that he approached a man he knew and attempted to assault him with a knife. Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the encounter.
At around 10 PM that evening, the suspect was apprehended on suspicion of affray. He has since been bailed until Sunday, October 13, while investigations continue.
[block_2]Investigating officer PC Izzy Deane said, “We believe the suspect used a black Audi A3 SE TDI to get to and from the venue, and after the incident, he was seen in the passenger seat of the car which left the main car park near the Premier Inn.
“The pub was packed with people getting ready to watch the Euros final, and this would have been a frightening incident to witness. I really want to talk to anyone with information who has yet to speak to us. Any little bit of information can be crucial to an investigation like this, so please get in touch.”
