Dane Bartholomew from Sussex, has been sentenced to 12 years and four months in prison after being convicted of raping a young girl in Wolverhampton. The case came to light when the victim bravely disclosed the abuse to her family, leading to a thorough investigation by Police.
Victim’s Courageous Testimony
The young victim’s courage played a pivotal role in bringing Bartholomew to justice. She confided in her family about the traumatic experience, prompting them to contact the authorities. With the support of specially trained officers, the girl provided a detailed account of the events, which included disturbing images found on Bartholomew’s phone.
Guilty Plea and Conviction
Bartholomew’s trial took an unexpected turn when he changed his plea to guilty on the first day of proceedings. The evidence, including the victim’s testimony and the incriminating images, left no room for doubt. He was convicted of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on a girl under 13.
Sexual Harm Prevention Order
In addition to the prison sentence, Bartholomew received a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). This order restricts his actions and interactions to prevent further harm to potential victims. He will also remain on the Sex Offender Register for life.
