Dane Bartholomew from Sussex, has been sentenced to 12 years and four months in prison after being convicted of raping a young girl in Wolverhampton. The case came to light when the victim bravely disclosed the abuse to her family, leading to a thorough investigation by Police.

Victim’s Courageous Testimony

Bartholomew’s trial took an unexpected turn when he changed his plea to guilty on the first day of proceedings. The evidence, including the victim’s testimony and the incriminating images, left no room for doubt. He was convicted of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on a girl under 13.

In addition to the prison sentence, Bartholomew received a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). This order restricts his actions and interactions to prevent further harm to potential victims. He will also remain on the Sex Offender Register for life.

DC James Cox, from the West Midlands Police’s Child Protection Unit, praised the victim’s resilience throughout the process. “This young girl had the courage to speak up to her family about what was happening,” Cox stated. “Our teams were able to support her and her family through the court process, resulting in Bartholomew’s significant incarceration.”
