Man Convicted of Sexual Assault in the Back of an Ambulance

In a significant verdict delivered by Oxford Crown Court, Marcus Gunn, 58, of Swerford, has been convicted of sexual assault and assault by penetration. The conviction came after a four-day trial concluded on Friday.

Gunn, an emergency care assistant, committed the assault in December 2022 while transporting a female patient in her fifties to the hospital in an ambulance. Charged on May 3rd last year, his actions have been described as a betrayal of trust given his professional role.

Detective Sergeant Victoria Griffiths, the investigating officer from Banbury Police Station, praised the victim’s courage in coming forward and emphasised the seriousness with which such reports are treated.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 9th at Oxford Crown Court.
