Man dies following fatal flat fire in Kensington

Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a house converted into flat in Holland Park Gardens in Holland Park last night. Part of a first floor flat was damaged by fire. A second floor flat was also damaged by fire. Sadly one man was pronounced dead at the scene. Approximately eight neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution. The Fire service was called at 2144 on Tuesday (February 6) and the fire was under control at 0201. Fire crews from Hammersmith, Kensington, North Kensington and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
