Man due In Court Over Death Of 16 Year Old Boy In Christchurch – UKNIP

A man has been charged and is set to appear in court in connection with a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Christchurch. The collision involved a Honda Civic and a pedestrian and was reported to the police at 9.37pm on Friday, June 30, 2023. The incident took place on Parley Lane near Bournemouth Airport.

Although officers and the ambulance service promptly attended the scene, the pedestrian—a 16-year-old boy—tragically lost his life.

An 18-year-old man from Wales was arrested on suspicion of driving offences, while a 39-year-old woman from Ferndown was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. Both individuals have been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man from Poole, who has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and driving without valid insurance. He is scheduled to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 3, 2023.

Detective Constable Michelle Underwood, from the traffic unit, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and assured them that officers are providing support during this immensely difficult time. The investigation is ongoing, and any witnesses who have not yet come forward or individuals with relevant dashcam footage are urged to contact the police.
