A man in his 50s has died after being struck by a pickup truck in Crawshawbooth, prompting police to arrest five people — including a 14-year-old boy — on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while impaired through drink or drugs.

Emergency services were called to Burnley Road at around 10:06pm on Friday (8 August) following reports that a Toyota Hilux Invincible had collided with a pedestrian crossing the carriageway. A Volkswagen Golf was also reported to have been in close proximity at the time of the incident.
