Man Shot Dead in Dublin

The streets of Dublin turned deadly in the early hours of yesterday morning as 20-year-old Josh Itseli fell victim to a fatal shooting on Knocknarea Road. Gardaí are now grappling with the aftermath of yet another violent incident, suspecting its ties to the ongoing feud among criminal factions.

Details of the Incident

  • Victim: Josh Itseli, a resident of the Kylemore area in Dublin.
  • Crime Scene: Knocknarea Road.
  • Circumstances: Mr Itseli was shot multiple times in what appears to be a gangland attack.
  • Possible Motive: One line of investigation is that he was part of a gang en route to carry out an attack when they were intercepted and ambushed by rival criminals.
  • Vehicle Involvement: Two cars, a black Mercedes and a black Volkswagen Golf, crashed at the scene. A third car, a Silver Focus, was also found nearby.
  • Arrests: Two men and a teenager were arrested near the crime scene. One of the men, a violent criminal in his twenties, had been charged with a serious offence five weeks prior and was out on bail.
  • Retaliation Angle: Authorities are exploring whether the victim sought retaliation due to a recent attack he experienced.
  • Weapons: A military-grade AR-15 assault rifle, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered. Additionally, a pipe bomb was made safe by the Army bomb disposal team for forensic examination.
  • Fleeing Suspects: Detectives are working to identify other individuals who fled the scene after the shooting.

Superintendent Paul Maher has urged anyone with relevant information, dash-cam footage, or phone recordings to come forward and assist the investigation. The incident room at Sundrive Road Garda Station is open for contact.
