Police have provided an update on the condition of a man who was stabbed in Woolwich last week. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm on March 27 in Parry Place, near the main road and Woolwich station, in an area surrounded by open businesses.

Incident Details

Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a stabbing. The man, whose identity has not been released, was found with life-threatening injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital.

Today, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the victim’s condition has improved and his life is no longer in danger.

A crime scene remained in place at the junction of Spray Street and Parry Place following the stabbing, with police cordoning off the area and conducting investigations.

Local Reaction

Nearby shop owner Chinyere Iwunna described the situation as a big shock for the local community.

“It’s a very big shock to everybody. We have not had something like this for a long time. There are lots of police. They closed the road and asked us to go,” Iwunna said.

She added that officers came into her shop and informed her that she would need to close due to the incident outside.

Ongoing Investigation

Despite the improvement in the victim’s condition, no arrests have been made as police inquiries continue. Officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 3693/27MAR.”

The incident has left many local residents on edge, as violent crime in the area has generally been uncommon. Increased police presence remains in the area to reassure the public and aid in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the police. Additionally, those who feel uneasy following the event are encouraged to speak with local officers who are maintaining a visible presence in the community.
