Murder probe launched in Cricklewood

A man has died of his injuries following a collision in Cricklewood. At around 04:50hrs on Wednesday, 11 April, police were called to Cricklewood Broadway near to the junction with Mora Road, NW2. The victim, 67-year-old Colin Corker, was found lying in the road with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle. Mr Corker was taken to a north London hospital where he died on Friday, 13 April, from his injuries. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. It is believed that Mr Corker was a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle, which then failed to stop at the scene. Officers believe the vehicle to have been a dark coloured Audi A4 or A6. Damage is likely to have been sustained to the front right windscreen. Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating and want to hear from anyone who was in the Cricklewood Broadway area or near to the bus stops at Mora Road in the early hours of Wednesday, 11 April. Detective Sergeant Jane Shaw, who is leading the investigation, commented: “Someone out there will know what happened to Mr Corker and I have no doubt that it will be playing on their mind. I would appeal to any garage workers who may have been approached by someone asking about damage to an Audi A4 or Audi A6 to contact us.” Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call SCIU detectives on 020 8991 9555 or contact via Twitter @MetCC. To give information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
