At around 6.23pm on Saturday 5 March, a man and a woman boarded the train at Newcastle and opened a window. Two other women on the train were opposed to the window being open and began to argue with the couple, making violent threats. One of the women then jumped over the seats and attempted to punch the male and he sustained a scratch to his face. She then tried to take his mobile phone out of his hand. Both women then threw their drinks over the couple and other passengers intervened to keep them apart.
