Pedestrian Hit in Serious Collision on Busy A31 in the New Forest

The Busy A31 remains closed on the westbound carriage towards Ringwood following a serious collision between a Pedestrian and a single vehicle. Emergency services were called just after 1am on Sunday morning after the walker was struck by the driver of Audi A3 yards from the Stoney Cross services station. Police and Paramedics attended the scene the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance also sent. Police and Highways England closed the A31 at Junction 2 of the M27 Motorway. The closure is to assist with a full collision scene investigation. This is likely to take a number of hours. Whilst this is taking place the road will remain closed to traffic. A diversion route is in place and drivers are advised to join the A326 towards Colbury and than use the A35 towards Christchurch via Lyndhurst then join the A338 and rejoin the A31 at Ringwood. Police are appealing for witnesses who may have driven passed the scene to or witnessed event prior to the collision anyone with information is asked to contact the Hampshire Police on 101.
