Emergency services rushed to Slade Green Station in Erith this afternoon after a person was struck by a train. The incident occurred shortly after 1:15 pm today (October 18). British Transport Police (BTP) and the London Fire Brigade were among the emergency responders on the scene.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) crews from Erith and Bexley fire stations responded to the call at 1:26 pm. Firefighters collaborated with other emergency services to secure the area and ensure the safety of those nearby.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Erith railway station at just after 1:15 pm today (18 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended; however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The London Fire Brigade spokesperson added: “Two fire engines and one Fire Rescue Unit are responding to an incident at Slade Green Railway Station in Erith. Firefighters are working to assist emergency service colleagues and make the scene safe. The Brigade was called at 1:26 pm. Crews from Erith and Bexley fire stations are in attendance at the scene.
