Breaking: Person Hit by Train at Great Portland Street Station – Emergency Response Underway

A major emergency response is underway at Great Portland Street Station after reports that a person was struck by a train earlier this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 2:40 PM, following reports of a person under a train at the busy central London Underground station.

Firefighters, Paramedics, and Police on Scene

Crews from the London Fire Brigade, British Transport Police, and London Ambulance Service have rushed to the scene on Great Portland Street

The station has been closed to passengers, and severe disruption has hit surrounding lines as rescue operations continue.

A London Fire Brigade source confirmed that teams were working alongside paramedics and police to safely manage the scene and assist the individual.

Disruption to Tube Services

Transport for London (TfL) has warned commuters to expect major delays across the Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan lines, which serve Great Portland Street.

Passengers are being advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while emergency services carry out their work.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said:

Officers were called to Great Portland Street Underground Station at 2.40pm on Tuesday, 6 May, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Emergency services remain on scene.”
