Police declare Major incident after responding to Suspected Ordnance Device in Croydon

Emergency services are currently on the scene at Addiscombe Road, Croydon, following reports of an unconfirmed ordnance device. The incident was reported at just after 5pm on September 20, 2024.

A suspicious package was discovered at One Croydon, prompting a swift response from local police, The Met Police bomb disposal units other emergency services.

Authorities have established a large cordon at the junction of Altyre Road and Hazeldere Road as a precautionary measure.

East Croydon Station has also been closed as a result of the Incident .

The situation has been declared a major incident, with roads around the area being cordoned off and the public advised to avoid the vicinity. Residents and businesses in the nearby area have been urged to remain indoors while the investigation continues.

Specialist teams are working to assess the package, though no confirmation has yet been made regarding the nature of the device. Police remain on the scene, managing the situation and ensuring public safety.
