Train services at Rochester railway station have been disrupted due to an ongoing police incident, causing inconvenience for commuters and travellers. The incident has led to the suspension of westbound trains to Rochester, with disruptions expected until at least 5pm
Southeastern Trains: Trains departing from London towards Sittingbourne will not be making scheduled stops at Rochester station until at least 3pm. Fortunately, eastbound trains towards London are not affected by the disruption.
For passengers travelling to or from Rochester, the following alternatives are available:
- Travel to Strood, which is a short distance from Rochester station.
- Alternatively, travellers can opt to go to Chatham and change for a train towards London.
Thameslink: Trains heading from London towards Gillingham or Rainham will not stop at Rochester station. However, trains travelling in the opposite direction towards London will continue to make scheduled stops at the station.
For passengers affected by the disruption:
- If you are travelling from Rochester station to Gillingham or Rainham, it is recommended to travel to Strood and change there for a return service to your destination.
- Travelers heading from London to Rochester should continue their journey to Chatham station and change there for a return service that will include a stop at Rochester.
Commuters and travellers are urged to check journey planners, station information boards, and live updates for the latest information on train services. Additionally, it is advisable to allocate extra time for your journey to ensure you reach your destination without any issues.
A police spokesman said: “Officers are currently at the scene of a medical incident.
“Police were called at 11.46am, and patrols attended a private car park along with South East Coast Ambulance Service.”
