A heart-wrenching incident unfolded on A50 Groby Road as authorities launched a thorough investigation following the tragic death of a pedestrian in a collision. The incident occurred at approximately 23:00 GMT on Saturday, December 30, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

Authorities were alerted to a collision on the southbound carriageway, near the Shell petrol station and near the Gynsill Lane roundabout. The collision involved a grey Toyota Prius and a woman in her 40s, who was identified as the pedestrian involved in the incident. Despite the immediate arrival of the East Midlands Ambulance Service, the woman was, regrettably, pronounced deceased at the scene.
