Police Officers Hospitalised After M2 Collision

Two traffic police officers are currently receiving treatment in hospital following a collision with a lorry on the M2 this morning.

Incident Details

The incident occurred between junction five for Sittingbourne and junction six for Faversham, resulting in the closure of the busy M2 carriageway. Traffic queues have extended back to junction four.

Official Statement

A spokesperson for Kent Police stated: “A Kent Police vehicle responding to a call in the east of the county was involved in a collision with a lorry. Police and Secamb are on the scene, and two police officers are being treated for injuries. The carriageway is expected to be closed for several hours.”

Traffic Diversions

All traffic is being diverted onto the A249. Vehicles heading to the Port of Dover are advised to use the M20 and A20. Additionally, traffic is being held on the London-bound carriageway while an air ambulance attends the scene.
