Police on Isle of Wight Launch Probe after man caught masturbating outside schools in Ryde

Police are investigating an allegation that a child caught sight of a man masturbating on a popular footpath whilst walking home from school this afternoon (Tuesday). The girl was walking down Rosemary Lane in Ryde at around 15:55 when she came across a male committing the lewd act. Frightened by the situation, the startled student ran away before calling her parents, who in turn informed Police. Hampshire Constabulary sent officers to the scene immediately but the man had already fled. Rosemary Lane, which runs from Ashey Road to the railway line, is a regular route taken by school children every day when walking to and from Ryde Academy and Haylands Primary School from Oakfield. Anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area or has any further information should call Police on 101, quoting 18050800613.
