A man suspected of burglarizing a pub in Cheshire was arrested just before he boarded a plane at Heathrow Airport, police have confirmed.
Cheshire Police have been investigating a burglary that took place at The Top House pub on Wharton Road in Winsford. The pub’s landlord reported the incident at around 11:30 am on Sunday, September 8, stating that an unknown offender had broken into the premises at around 1:45 am that day and stolen a large sum of cash.
Following investigations, police identified a 37-year-old man from Northwich as a suspect. Further inquiries revealed that the suspect was about to board a flight at Heathrow Airport.
Officers from Northwich Proactive Policing Team quickly travelled to Heathrow on Wednesday, September 11, and arrested the man on suspicion of burglary other than a dwelling.
Detective Constable Lara Hill, who is leading the investigation, commented on the arrest: “We treat all reports of burglary extremely seriously, and as this case demonstrates, we will travel the length and breadth of the country to ensure that those responsible for committing such offences are held accountable for their actions.”
The suspect is currently being held in police custody and is assisting officers with their inquiries.
