A violent rapist who attacked a woman, stole her bank card, and then tried to splash cash on a tracksuit at JD Sports has been locked up for 14 years.
Attack at Petrol Station Ends in Brutal Assault
Kieran Naylor, 40, met the victim at a petrol station in Bolton, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of December 9, 2024. He invited her back to his home where he violently attacked her – kicking and stamping on her, causing serious injuries including a broken femur and wrist, Manchester Crown Court heard.
“As a consequence of the assault, she was unable to stand, and she was in significant pain,” prosecutor Stephen Swift revealed. “She did ask the defendant to call an ambulance, and he laughed.”
The victim desperately tried to escape, dragging herself to the front door, but Naylor pulled her back inside and raped her a second time. She eventually became unconscious from her injuries.
Bank Card Theft & Shocking JD Sports Attempt
Afterwards, Naylor stole her bank card, using it to buy cigarettes and alcohol. He even tried, and failed, to buy a tracksuit from JD Sports in a twisted act of callousness. The woman managed to call for help, and a member of the public alerted emergency services.
Naylor was arrested at the scene. Sadly, the victim died earlier this year from natural causes and never got to see justice for the horrific crimes committed against her.
Family Speak Out on Lasting Damage
In a heartfelt court statement, one of the victim’s daughters described the devastating impact the attack had on her mother’s life:
- “Her confidence and sense of safety completely changed.”
- “She became fearful of going out alone and trusting people was suddenly difficult.”
- “She struggled to walk properly, and her mental health suffered greatly.”
- “Before the attack, she was loving and bubbly. Seeing her lose that spark was devastating.”
The victim’s other daughter added, “It was heartbreaking to watch her trust decline, and we are seeking closure while honouring her story.”
Long Criminal History & Tough Sentence
Naylor has a shocking 57 previous convictions for 100 offences, including theft and violence. Despite claims of a “traumatic childhood” and struggles with drugs and alcohol, Judge Recorder Sophie Cartwright delivered a harsh sentence.
Naylor was jailed for 14 years with an additional two years on extended license. He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, and banned from contacting the victim’s daughters under an indefinite restraining order.
“She completely lost her sense of confidence, independence, and trust in people,” the judge said. “Her life will never be the same.”
Justice has finally been served, but the scars run deep for this tragic victim and her family.
