A seventh Metropolitan Police officer has been sacked following disgraceful behaviour exposed at Charing Cross police station. PC Sean Park, from the Central West Command Unit, was dismissed after damning footage aired on BBC Panorama.
PC Park Caught on Camera Making Discriminatory Remarks
The misconduct panel slammed PC Park after the October 1 Panorama broadcast revealed him spouting discriminatory and disrespectful views about Muslims. Worse, he bragged about ignoring a colleague’s alleged excessive force, where another officer was accused of stomping on a detainee’s ankle.
Park admitted he did nothing to challenge the brutality or the racist attitudes of PC Martin Borg—already booted from the force for misconduct.
Senior Police Official Condemns Park’s Conduct
“PC Park’s conduct fell very far below the high standard we expect of our officers,” said Commander Simon Messinger, Professionalism Lead. “His comments were appalling, and condoning the use of force against a detainee is completely unacceptable. He rightly lost his job.”
Messinger also revealed that a misconduct hearing for former PC Brian Sharkey has been delayed. The BBC handed over new unseen footage to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) last minute, forcing a pause to the proceedings. Sharkey’s hearing is expected in February.
Barred From Policing For Life
PC Park was found guilty of breaching professional conduct rules on authority, respect, courtesy, discreditable conduct, failure to challenge improper behaviour, and equality.
He will join the other six rogue officers on the College of Policing’s Barred List, banning him from ever returning to the police or related roles.
