A serious accident involving six vehicles, including a lorry, a van, and four cars, has resulted in massive traffic jams and significant delays on the M25 motorway this morning. The incident occurred on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 10 (A3 Wisley Interchange) and Junction 11 (A320 St Peters Way) near Chertsey.
Commuters travelling along this stretch of the M25 are experiencing severe disruption as a result of the accident, with traffic backing up for an astonishing sixteen miles. Inrix, the traffic monitoring service, has reported long delays and queueing traffic, with an estimated travel time of 50 minutes due to the incident.
Additionally, congestion has extended to Cobham Services before Junction 10 and north on the A3 from Ripley Services.
As a consequence of the crash, lanes one and two remain closed, although lanes three and four are open, allowing limited traffic flow.
It remains uncertain at this time how serious the accident is, and we have reached out to Surrey Police for further information on the incident.
In addition to this incident, another incident has caused delays on the anticlockwise stretch of the M25, as a broken-down vehicle at Junction 10 (Wisley Interchange) hinders traffic flow.
Commuters are advised to exercise caution and consider alternative routes if possible. We will continue to provide updates on this developing situation as more information becomes available.
