This Wednesday (5th December) students at the University of Sussex protested outside of their main library over what they describe as a failure to provide adequate disabled access and relevant signage.

The current stepped access to the building is straight up a flight of stairs in contrast with the winding step-free access route, which took our reporter 7 minutes and 7 seconds to traverse.

Students involved in the action encouraged students and staff to take the disabled access route to the building.

One of the students said to Sussex News: “We are here today to protest inadequate signage around Sussex University’s Library. We are asking for adequate signage been put around campus to show both the shortcut and non-shortcut route to our library because every student should be able to access our library as well as members of the public.”
