Shocking Crime Caught on Camera
Two teenage Afghan asylum seekers have been named as rapists following a harrowing attack on a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Jan Jahanzeb and Israr Niazal, both 17, face jail after sexually assaulting the teenager in a park on May 10.
The victim filmed herself being dragged away, capturing a distressing three-minute video filled with desperate cries for help and pleas for her attackers to stop. In the footage played at Warwick Crown Court, she can be heard yelling, “You’re going to rape me,” as the horrifying attack unfolds.
Victim’s Terrifying Ordeal
- The terrified girl was forced into a secluded area near Newbold Comyn park, where she was sexually assaulted by the pair.
- At one point, Jahanzeb placed his hand over her mouth to silence her screams for help.
- After escaping, she recorded more videos describing her trauma while distraught and alone.
- A passerby found her and took her to a nearby police station, enabling officers to collect vital forensic evidence.
Legal Battle to Name the Attackers
Initially protected by a court ban due to their age, the Daily Mail successfully challenged the restriction, allowing the rapists to be named. Judge Sylvia de Bertodano acknowledged the public interest in revealing the identities of the offenders.
Prosecutor Shawn Williams described the attack as “a deeply distressing and predatory sexual offence on a vulnerable and highly intoxicated 15-year-old.”
