Teenagers Charged Following Incident at Surbiton Railway Station

Two teenagers have been charged in connection with an incident involving a corrosive substance at Surbiton railway station on 29 November.

The suspects, aged 16 and 14, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are charged with possession of a corrosive substance in a public place. Both are scheduled to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates Court on 2 December.

Incident Details

The charges follow an incident in which officers from British Transport Police (BTP) encountered the pair at 4.20 pm after observing them acting suspiciously at the station. During the engagement, officers were exposed to a substance believed to be alkaline.

Impact on Officers

Two officers were taken to hospital following the exposure. They have since been discharged. An additional seven officers, including two from the Metropolitan Police, were evaluated by paramedics at the scene.
