The Grieving Mother Of A Deliveroo Rider Slain In A Gangland Shooting In Brixton Has Spoken Out About Her Loss
Guilherme Messias da Silva, 21, was on his final order of the night when
two cars rushed down Railton Road, one of which collided with his motorbike.
Drill musician Lamar Scott, 27, also known as Perm, jumped out of the car
that hit the takeaway rider, but was shot and killed around 7.50 p.m. on
Sunday.
Mr da Silva’s mother, Rosângela Messias de Sousa, 46, said from her home in
Brazil: “I plunged into despair, shouted, fainted.” It’s heartbreaking; my
heart is bleeding. Everything hurts.”
She described her son as “joyous, outgoing, and smiling” to TV news
programme G1 Goias.
Ms De Sousa said she called her younger son, who relocated to the UK two
years ago, on a daily basis in an attempt to stay in touch despite the
distance.
However, their conversation on Sunday morning was cut short due to poor
signal quality.
Ms De Sousa found out about his death via close friends. The family is now
attempting to find a method to return his body to their birthplace of
Petrolina de Goias, which is located near the Brazilian capital of Brasilia.
They attacked him at the time of his escape,” his stepfather Cirilo
Antonio Machado, 66, said of Mr Da Silva’s death.
“He was courteous, sweet, full of friends, and hardworking.”
Mr Scott was the promoter of boxer Dillian Whyte, Dean Whyte. The
heavyweight, who was defeated by Tyson Fury at Wembley in April, paid
tribute to his opponent on Instagram yesterday.
Friends stated he was associated with the ClapTown rap group, which is
known to have feuds with rival gangs.
The killings come just five days after two other young men were shot dead
in an Ilford terraced house.
This comes after a string of shootings in which three men were killed in
six days in July.
Prior to these homicides, there had been no gun deaths in London for nine
months, since October 31 of previous year.
“This is an extraordinarily unfortunate situation, and our thoughts go out
to the friends and family of those who have lost their lives,” a Deliveroo
spokesman said.
“We are astounded and appalled that such heinous crimes could occur in one
of our local towns, and we have pledged to assist the authorities in any
way we can.”
